TKHC opened in August 2020. Situated atop Kam Shan in the New Territories, a semi-rural location which means the school is away from the general hubbub of congestion and traffic yet accessible in around ten to fifteen minutes from Tai Wo MTR Station. Our beautiful campus design not only supports the mission and aspirations of TKHC, but also respects the neighbourhood and the surrounding unique vista. It is about 140,000 square feet in size and consists of a modern stimulating environment for learning with three main blocks: the Main Academic Building, the InnoBuilding and the Administration Building.
The Main Academic Building houses all the classrooms, language learning rooms and the health corner where students are being taken good care of and monitored by a health professional. All rooms are air-conditioned and fitted out to a high standard with interactive and digital facilities served by broadband and a wireless network throughout.
The InnoBuilding is perceived as a cradle for nurturing young talents. Specialist teaching rooms including Design Technology Workshop, Science Laboratories and iGenius Lab with abundant working space can be found in this block. Essential equipment is provided to offer students great learning and necessary practice opportunities. Their exceptional work will be showcased in these areas as well.
The Administration Building accommodates facilities that are less regular in size or require large volumetric space, including the Assembly Hall equipped with sound & lighting system, Performing Arts Room, Dance & Drama Studio, Multimedia Learning Hub with dedicated self-study areas, student meeting rooms & library resources centre, Offices and Cafeteria & Refectory.
A wide range of sports facilities are available to support the curriculum and individual needs. There are two outdoor playgrounds for practice and playing ball games as well as a gym room. A rock climbing wall with colour-coded routes is a good place for students’ training where they can hone their skills on the overhang section. In addition, a sport track, long jump pit and fencing area are also in the blueprint to develop young talents’ potentials further.
Utilizing the space and natural environment is another important design concept with the goal of supporting the sustainable development of TKHC and fulfilling the needs of the steadily growing diverse and multicultural community. To create a sense of place for everyone, the Multi-Functional Piazza has been created as a centralised area for extended learning outside the classroom, socializing and special events. Large existing trees have been conserved and integrated in the Ecological Science Garden where students and teachers will find it empathetic with the whole campus. It not only places a positive stimulus for students to make good use of technology to protect the natural environment and promote green culture, but also encourages them to make a difference in caring for nature and fostering their naturalistic intelligence.
In short, we provide students in Grades 7 to 12 with a pleasant atmosphere and state-of-the-art environment in which teaching, research, and service to the community can be achieved effectively and efficiently.
