Curriculum Overview

TKHC offers quality education for preparing students to become leaders with virtues and talents. The curriculum we rigorously design for Grades 7 to 12 is unique and coherent that can fully support students’holistic development.

We will first provide students with the foundation course for international education in Grades 7 and 8. The implementation of this school-based curriculum will help them build a solid foundation for learning more effectively, including the enhancement of their critical thinking skills, academic writing skills, communication skills, social skills, self-management skills and research skills. This is to support them to become lifelong self-regulated learners who strive for excellence by setting learning goals, asking good questions as well as generating motivation and perseverance. Students are required to finish different types of tasks, such as experimental reports, case studies, presentations, short essays, unit tests, exams and projects for assessment. In Grades 9 and 10, students will focus on the school-based curriculum that prepares them for taking the IGCSE examination. The IGCSE is an internationally recognized qualification from the UK. Students at TKHC can take up to 10 IGCSE subjects. By adopting this curriculum, students will be equipped with necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes that allow them to succeed in the IBDP or the GCE A-Level programme while studying Grades 11 and 12. Upon the completion of the 6-year secondary education, students will be ready for furthering their studies either in local or overseas universities around the world according to their abilities, interests and aspirations.

Furthermore, “SCALE” Programme is also an important part of our curriculum. “SCALE” is actually the abbreviation of the following: “S” stands for “Service”, “C” stands for “Creativity”, “A” stands for “Activity”, “L” stands for “Leadership” and “E” stands for “Excellence”. The Programme aims at empowering students to achieve their full potential and to become talented student leaders who will serve as role models showing care about our community & the world and supporting the sustainable development. Leadership Development Programme (LDP) will be launched to offer ample student leadership opportunities for enhancing students’ leadership skills. It is believed that students’ teamwork spirit as well as sense of belonging will be strengthened by undertaking the enterprising & volunteering initiatives, participating in both local & international competitions and taking part in various Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA). On the other hand, in order to develop students’international-mindedness, we will form sister school partnerships with schools in English-speaking countries, such as the United States, the UK, Canada and Australia. Regular exchange programmes will be planned and carried out with those schools so as to broaden students’horizons. Other events will also be organized with reference to United Nations (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals to foster students’ awareness of being a global citizen. More importantly, we would like to provide students with more motivations for excelling and improving themselves by implementing “SCALE” award scheme.
