Data Protection Policy Statement 

Tai Kwong Hilary College (“TKHC”) respects personal data and is committed to implementing and complying with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. As such, TKHC will ensure that staff involved in handling personal data comply with appropriate standards of security and confidentiality.

Collection and Use of Personal Data

Personal data is kept for the fulfilment of the purpose or its directly related purpose for which the data is used. This may include student information, personnel information, and visual materials required in the day-to-day administration and functioning of the school such as administrative, academic, pastoral purposes and alumni activities. This includes database systems and online portals and any such personal data provided will form part of the staff member or the student’s official records.

Students, student applicants, parents, guardians, alumni, staff, contractors, job applicants, board members, sub-committee members, members, and other individuals who come into contact with TKHC may be invited or requested to provide personal data to the school.  TKHC will specify the collection purpose and intended usage of personal data when it invites or requests data subjects to provide such information.  TKHC may place staff members’ and student’s photos, name or school work, activities and accomplishments in school publications, websites (including but not limited to social media sites) used by TKHC for organizational purposes. TKHC may also disclose some of the data to third parties such as agencies, service providers and contractors (whether within or outside Hong Kong) appointed by the school to undertake some of its academic, pastoral, administrative or alumni functions.

TKHC is committed to ensuring that all personal data collected, stored and processed is handled with the strictest standards of security and confidentiality.  We will divulge personal information only if required by law or with prior consent by the student or his/her parent/guardian. Such data will be kept by TKHC indefinitely; if the data is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected/used, the data may be destroyed.

Right of Access and Correction

Under the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, individuals have the right to request access to and correction of their personal data. Should you wish to access or correct your personal information held by us, please send your enquiry or request to TKHC by post or by email.
